Prior to enrolling in the 20-hour Risk Reduction Course, a participant must take an Assessment (Survey) comprised of 143-questions which center on you and your lifestyle. The Assessment may take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete and the cost is $100.00 (fee is set by state law). Assessments may be taken by appointment or as a walk-in during office hours. Assessments must be completed by 12:00 p.m. on Friday for enrollment in a DUI/Drug Risk Reduction Course scheduled to begin on the following day (Saturday). Temporarily, as an option due to COVID-19, Assessments may be taken electronically through a state approved student portal. All required contracts will be electronically signed through the same portal.
After completing the Assessment, the participant must enroll in a 20-hr. classroom course called a DUI/Drug Class or Risk Reduction Course. Participants must be on time for every session during the 20-hr. classroom course. Based on the strict rules and regulations set forth by the Department of Driver Services, late arrival is forbidden.
The fee for the Risk Reduction Course is $235.00. A student may not begin the course until the Assessment ($100) is completed and the Risk Reduction Course ($235) have been paid in full.
The Right Turn offers Hybrid Classes which include Virtual and In-School students.Both an Assessment and Risk Reduction Intervention Contract must be signed by the participant. There is also a $25 workbook that students are required to purchase. The total Risk Reduction Course fee is $360.00 ($100, $235 and $25).
After successfully completing the 20-hr. Risk Reduction Course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion.
The Right Turn Defensive Driving Course (also referred as Driver Improvement Program), is currently provided by G.A.R.D.E. (Georgia Association of Risk Reduction and Defensive Driving Educators) which is certified and approved by the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS).
The 6-hour Defensive Driving Course will concentrate on traffic laws, rules and regulations, and defensive driving techniques. Each student will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the 6-hour class.
The fee for the 6-hour Defensive Driving Class is $95.00 (license reinstatement, point reduction, or court-ordered/related). This fee is set by Georgia State Law. The course fee for Insurance Reduction is $50. An Insurance Reduction Certificate can solely be used for insurance purposes.

The Defensive Driving Class is 6 hours. The Right Turn offers classes that can be completed in one day or two days. Two day classes are 3 hours each day.
Yes. The Right Turn is certified by the State of Georgia through the Department of Driver Services to offer the Risk Reduction Program (RRP Certification #10107) and the Driver Improvement Program (DI Certification #2133).
The rates at The Right Turn are consistent with all schools certified by the Georgia Department of Driver Services. The Risk Reduction Class fee of $360 and the Defensive Driving fee of $95 are both set fees.
No. All fees are set by the state and fees cannot be reduced or inflated for the Risk Reduction or Defensive Driving programs. However, the state does allow schools to reduce fees for students enrolling in a Defensive Driving Class for Insurance Reduction only.
All certificates are distributed after successfully completing each class.
